Fish and chips have been sold from Gigs near Goodge Street tube station since 1958 and things hadn't really changed much in that time until an extensive refurbishment recently delivered a smart new look which judging by the queues and full dining room has gone down well with the locals and should last for a few more decades.Prices haven't gone upmarket though and take away cod & chips costs just £6.40. As with most fish & chips, it looks great but there was a lot more batter than cod and aficionados may be disappointed that there isn't a more Fitzrovia style premium portion available. Maybe Dean Street Townhouse could open a fish and chip shop?
