Mas Burritos' bright yellow shop appeared recently on St Martin's Lane in Covent Garden and compared to a new Chipotle it looked (and tasted) like a low budget attempt to jump on the Mexican bandwagon and nothing to write home about but now a second has opened at the bottom of Gray's Inn Road and so these guys are serious.
Taking over the spot from a bagel chain, the interior is more professionaly branded than in Covent Garden and a lot busier during lunch. A chicken fajita for £4.95 (£5.50 on the menu) was a little over-filled for the wrap and while the ingredients all looked fine, the chicken and medium salsa were still some way off the Daddy Donkey league. However, as seen in other new burrito chains, plenty of paying customers means they can hire someone to fix this and so there might be more Mas Burritos.
