Olives and Figs is a cosy Turkish restaurant in the secluded Spitalfields alleyway of Artillery Passage but down the left hand side is an even more secluded and narrower alley where Jack the Ripper may have once lain in wait and also where the bins are kept. About halfway along is what might appear to be the tradesman's door to the Olives kitchen but this actually doubles up as a takeaway entrance. The limited standing area would explain the lack of any big effort to attract too many people in this way and the presence of just one person waiting inside makes maneuvering past without encountering the hot grill or getting a little too personal a careful exercise. Technically speaking, it is possible to order takeaway by entering through the front door but this isn't well advertised nor as much of an adventure.

Thanks to a busy dining room, plenty of meat is already cooking on the grill so waiting times can be minimal and it's just a burrito beating £5 for a simple chicken shish in a Turkish droom (thin) wrap with healthy chunks of just-cooked chicken, fresh salad and sauces of home made mild chilli and low fat yogurt on the side.
More adventurous wraps/kebabs are available and the takeaway menu includes most dishes from the full menu, including sea bass, rib eye steak and even dessert of a cinnamon poached pear for £2.95, which you don't get in your average burrito joint.
