Pizza Pilgrims are cleverly saving money on advertising and packaging by sending their customers into the Soho streets holding freshly cooked and great looking pizzas with only a paper plate in brown paper for protection.
The effect of this sight on the unsuspecting public is dramatic and it's worth watching the reactions but it could actually be dangerous as eventually one drooling passerby won't bother attempting to locate the source in Berwick Street food market and will instead just attack the owner in a fit of pizza envy. The plain variety is £5 with some particularly good mozzarella but it's worth another pound to get more flavours from one of the two versions with toppings. Traditional pizza boxes are available on request for anyone who wants to reduce the risk of an assault on the way back to the office.
GO is a smart new pizza-baguette-ciabatta concept which opened a few weeks ago in Spitalfields to a queue out of the door and a few weeks later they're still queueing out of the door. This seems to have even affected burrito demand as the line out of Poncho No 8 didn't stretch as far into the street as normal.7" pizzas are £4 and a little unusual. The deep pan base is already half cooked, presumably to save waiting time and then cheese, sauce and toppings are added to order, followed by a few minutes in the oven. Not quite sure which pizza was delivered, didn't seem to be the one ordered but wasn't bad. A proper fresh pizza base would be preferable and worth a longer wait, but everyone else seems happy with it.
