Queue watch: Chapel Market
The biggest lunchtime queue on Islington's Chapel Market was at Thai-An, which is named after owners Thai and Anh who had (and may still have) a little side street grocery/takeaway but now occupy what used to be a Jerk Chicken place with an Oriental restaurant and takeaway.

At the other end of the queue is simple canteen dining room and a hot lunchtime buffet which begins with a choice of egg fried rice or noodle base, then a healthy layer of vegetables and a selection of classic Oriental options, which can be combined.

A well filled and tasty box of Malaysian chicken curry was just £4 and managed the rarely achieved ideal balance between rice and toppings. Larger boxes are available for just a pound or two extra and 70p for a bottle of water. Bargain.

In the street food department, Delhi Grill's new tandoori wrap stall and The Naked Sausage were busy but the seemingly unnamed falafel stall was doing best and rightly so because their falafels are fantastic, especially when sold in a regular size wrap for just £3.

With lots of fresh salad everything looked set for a quality wrap but in the blink of an eye it all got drowned in sauce so best to keep a close eye on proceedings and have a word when they reach for the large yellow bottle because the falafels don't need more than a little squeeze.
