Great food, great service, great location! The pie and mash shop with a twist, customers can choose from a variety of mash (from ‘textured’ mash with leeks, to ‘whipped’ mash with cheese and mustard) and then select from a list of sumptuous pies and sausages, topped with your choice of speciality gravy.
I went with the Chicken Ham and Leek pie, cheesy mustard mash and ‘farmers glory’ gravy (lovely rich gravy with bacon bits), I also shared a bottle of chilled white wine with a friend.
Comfort food at its finest, I left feeling warmed from the inside out, very tasty and served in lovely surroundings, go to Mother Mash and give it a try, you wont be dissappointed!

I think the photo has said enough. On my first visit 4 weeks after opening (enough time to get organised) I was in a world of choas. The staff seemed lost with broken english, the wait was just agonising and was it worth the wait? unfortunately not. Dry over cooked pie with dry filling and mash (supposed to be a speciality of the house) dry and tasteless. The gravy was obviously a cheap packet affair but I did get what I ordered. Worth the money, well it is cheap at around 7 pounds, will it survive with so much competition close by? Unlikely. I gave it a second chance on the off chance it was a bad day. Again after battling my way through a large group of grumbling take away customers the same choas seemed to exist. Young unguided waitresses seemed lost and this time the food was at least consistent. Same dry pie, tastless mash and that fake brown, floury packet stodge for gravy. Shame that in this climate not enough though goes into the food quality with so many eateries nearby. Sorry Mother Mash……its just not for me.

I love this place, It’s got a great vibe about it. Best pie and mash i’ve ever tasted! i’m in 2-3 times a week, love the chicken pie, colcannon mash and farmers gravy. Lamb pie is equally as good. Fast service, staff always so polite and will do anything for you really nice bunch. They even know my name! Decor looks like an old pie and mash shop but with a modern twist. would recommend it to anyone. I take a lot of clients in for meetings and i’ve got to say i’ve never had any kind of problem. It does get busy later on in the week but. I try and get there a bit earlier. Breakfast is amazing as well. definatly worth a try, mother mash is certainly getting a lot of fans this side of the city

I love Mother Mash! My experiences of the food have never been anything other than brilliant.

Great choice of pies and sausages, including veggie options, amazing mashed potato and really tasty gravies. If I could buy packet gravy that tasted this good I would. ;)

Would not hesitate to reccommend, in fact I have already done so to most of my friends and colleagues.

I have eaten pie and mash all my life and was so happy to see mother mash open up. The quality of mother mashs food and the atmosphere is awesome. Its a cracking place with a real lunch time buzz about it and the fact you get 5 choices of gravy is a stroke of genius. I am a massive fan of the lamb morrocan pie its tasty gorgeous. Keep up the good work Mother Mash.

The Steak n Ale pie, Champ Mash & Farmer’s gravy was increadible. One of the best pie, mash & gravy combo’s I’ve probably ever tasted in fact, I was recommending it to my work colleges as soon as I got back to the office.

If it wasn’t for the price (~£10 to eat in with drink) I’d prob be here more often. That said, takeaway option is a lot cheaper.

Just had a pie for the first time from Mother of Mash, unfortunately I was very disappointed as far as pies go I would say it was no better than a heat in the microwave pie from a petrol station. Hopefully the mash is better! If you want a decent pie go to Pie minister in borough market.

It was not bad… Pies were pretty good but way too posh, mash needs to be lumpier and served in a block it was way to creamy…  more snot sauce would not a go a miss either, And only serve with fork and spoon you do not need to offer a knife it is not Claridges… Also very very expensive but on the whole enjoyable… If not up to Kelly’s standard… Worth a go though, South Londers will enjoy it has they do not really know how to serve Pie n Slash anyway if being totally honest…
